Gold Residential Project
The Gold Residential Project is an extra requirement at the Gold level, providing an opportunity to apply many of the skills developed throughout the Award experience, including teamwork and leadership. This project offers participants a shared, purposeful experience with individuals who are not their usual companions, all working towards a common goal. It aims to broaden participants' perspectives and horizons.
The Process
1. Plan
Discussion and Selection: Participants must discuss their area of interest with their Award Leader before choosing a Gold Residential Project. Given the significant personal investment of time and sometimes money, participants should be encouraged to choose wisely from suitable opportunities.
Research and Arrangements: Participants should select an activity that interests them, make the necessary inquiries and arrangements, and inform the organization that they wish the experience to count towards their Gold Award.
Assessor Agreement: A suitable Assessor, typically the project instructor, leader, or facilitator, should be agreed upon with the Award Leader. This Assessor will evaluate the participant throughout the experience and record the completion of the section. The Assessor must be approved by the Award Centre before the activity begins.
2. Do
Preparation: Before starting the Gold Residential Project, participants should remind the chosen Assessor that they are undertaking the activity to complete their Gold Award.
Assessor Awareness: Award Leaders must ensure that the Assessor is aware of the section requirements and their responsibility to assess and record the activity.
3. Review
Final Review: Participants should have the opportunity to review their experience with the Assessor both at an interim point during the residential activity and at the end.
